SAVING LIVES

On the evening of Thursday, May 14, 2026, two neighbors administered the miracle drug, Narcan, right in the lobby of 196 Rockaway Parkway. After they called 911, and the Narcan took effect, the two neighbors yelled at the person who brought the drugs (who was nearby, very high, and bent over like a palm tree in a hurricane).

Our two neighbors yelled at the visitor because the visitor failed to hold a Narcan supply. Here is a golden rule of harm-reduction: A dealer who doesn’t carry Narcan is an irresponsible dealer. Next week, I will contact the Department of Health and request a Narcan supply for our community.

On the afternoon of Thursday, May 21, 2026, a neighbor from 196 Rockaway witnessed an unconscious man lying on the sidewalk across from C-Town. He called 911 and provided CPR until the ambulance arrived. FDNY told our neighbor that he saved that person’s life. Should we have a CPR class at an upcoming Tenant Union meeting?
