On the evening of Monday, September 15th, 2026, neighbors from 196 & 214 Rockaway learned about CPR and Narcan protocol from award-winning doctoral candidate, Andrew Ross.
Andrew Ross has been saving lives for decades. He recounted challenges he overcame. He testified about the grace that carried him through hardship, leading him to serve humanity through continued education, community service, and emergency intervention. Andrew Ross encouraged us to take responsibility, to help whenever possible, and to avoid judging people, especially when they are in crisis. Andrew Ross concluded the lecture portion of the workshop by teaching us about the “Good Samaritan” law, which protects people from being sued or prosecuted for attempting to save lives.
Then, one by one, neighbors practiced CPR. One by one, we received our Narcan kits. Andrew Ross asked everyone who participated to agree that they use their knowledge and resources for the benefit of anyone in trouble, underlining the fact that we are all individuals, and therefore we are all part of the human family.
